A Tribute to Carlee Cope

On behalf of our church family, I want to extend my love, sympathy, and prayer support to the family of Carlee Cope, who "went home to be with the LORD" this morning at 7:15 am, with her daughter, Joanie Robertson, at her side, singing "As the Deer." She was hospitalized recently, and then was transferred to Hospice Care at Penrose Main Hospital.more...

Conversations on Leadership Meeting Last Night

I had a great time this past Wednesday night leading a group of leaders to devote 2 hours to discussing and reviewing Dr. John Maxwell’s book, The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.  It was wonderful to be in a room with people who have a passion to grow as leaders in their marriages, in their families, in their secular workplace, and in the church.  The writer of Proverbs reminds us that "iron sharpens iron."  Last night's discussion was challenging, informative, high-energy, and spiritually beneficial. We have selected Simon Sinek’s best-selling book,  Start with Why:  How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, as our next book to discuss and review. We will meet Wednesday night, June 7 from 6:00-8:00 pm.  If you are passionate about leadership, and you desire to allow GOD to sharpen your leadership skills, and see your leadership skills "go to the next level," then I would would like to encourage you to join our small group!! Please email me at mroutt@cdbc.org or 719-596-4461.  We would love to welcome more leaders to our group!! more...

Our "Conversations on Leadership" Small Group

I have really enjoyed the "Conversations on Leadership" small group!  Each quarter members of the group read a book on leadership, come together, and spend two hours discussing the book.  The Bible says in Proverbs 27:17, "As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend."  It is my prayer that GOD uses this time to help us to grow to become more effective spiritual leaders, both in the church and in the workplace.more...

Leading the Colorado Executive Board on Monday/Tuesday

I would appreciate the prayer support of my church family this coming Monday and Tuesday as I lead the meeting of the Colorado Baptist Convention Executive Board.  A most important item on the agenda is my announcement of the 7 member Executive Director Search Team on Monday afternoon.  Currently, Dr. Mark Edlund serves in that capacity.  He has announced his retirement effective July of this year.  As president of the state convention, I am tasked with appointing a search team.  After months of prayerful consideration, I now am prepared to announce at our Monday meeting the 7 members.  Please be in prayer for them as they conduct a nation-wide search for the next Colorado Baptist Executive Director.more...

White Christmas & Will Rogers Toy/Clothing Drive Update

Our Circle Drive Church family possesses the spiritual DNA of giving/generosity, and "lives out" II Corinthians 9:7: "So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for GOD loves a cheerful giver."  II Corinthians 8:4 is another verse that reminds me of our church family:  "For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing."  When I reflect upon GOD's wonderful people here, I am reminded of I Chronicles 29:9:  "Then the people rejoiced, for they had offered willingly, because with a loyal heart they had offered willingly to the LORD..."more...
