I praise GOD for our Young at Heart Bible Study class at Circle Drive. They don't just come to class on Sunday mornings to enjoy breakfast and an engaging Bible Study, because they are also externally focused. This class gets it: reach in and reach out.
Through the years, our Circle Drive church family has been (and continues to be) incredibly blessed by military families who have transferred to Colorado Springs via Fort Carson, Schriever Air Force Base, Peterson Air Force Base, Air Force Academy, and NORAD. So many have come and gone. These families "jump right in," knowing the time limitation of their assignment here, and make a difference for a "season," and then move on to their next assignment. When they leave, our hearts are truly saddened!!
Christians across America observe the National Day of Prayer the first Thursday of the month of May. Through various venues, believers pray individually and corporately for brokenness, repentance, revival, extraordinary prayer, fasting, spiritual awakening, and a renewed passion to take the gospel to the nations.
On behalf of our church family at Circle Drive, I extend to the family of Carlee Cope my love, sympathy and prayer support in the time of her "homegoing" on April 3. She would have celebrated her 95th birthday in June.
I praise our great GOD for a glorious celebration of the resurrection of JESUS this past Sunday at Circle! We began at 6:15 am with a "sunrise" service" at our property at the corner of Marksheffel and Bradley Roads. With a temperature of 47 degrees and clear skies, we literally enjoyed watching the sun rise as we met, reminding us of that day when Mary and Mary M. went to the tomb at dawn, and discovered it was empty!
One of the many reasons I love our church family at Circle Drive is their generosity! I realized this truth again recently when I read the April/May 2017 Rocky Mountain Baptist, the news journal of the Colorado Baptist Convention. On page 10, I discovered that our church ranked 4th out of 325 churches in the state in Cooperative Program giving in 2016. Our church contributed $67,998.00.
On behalf of our church family, I want to extend my love, sympathy, and prayer support to the family of Carlee Cope, who "went home to be with the LORD" this morning at 7:15 am, with her daughter, Joanie Robertson, at her side, singing "As the Deer." She was hospitalized recently, and then was transferred to Hospice Care at Penrose Main Hospital.
I had a great time this past Wednesday night leading a group of leaders to devote 2 hours to discussing and reviewing Dr. John Maxwell’s book, The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. It was wonderful to be in a room with people who have a passion to grow as leaders in their marriages, in their families, in their secular workplace, and in the church. The writer of Proverbs reminds us that "iron sharpens iron." Last night's discussion was challenging, informative, high-energy, and spiritually beneficial. We have selected Simon Sinek’s best-selling book, Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, as our next book to discuss and review. We will meet Wednesday night, June 7 from 6:00-8:00 pm. If you are passionate about leadership, and you desire to allow GOD to sharpen your leadership skills, and see your leadership skills "go to the next level," then I would would like to encourage you to join our small group!! Please email me at email@example.com or 719-596-4461. We would love to welcome more leaders to our group!!
I have enjoyed the privilege of serving the past 2 years as the President of the Colorado Baptist Convention. My second year term concludes at our annual meeting in October. This position has given me the opportunity to travel across our state to meet with pastors, tour church facilities, and pray with/for them and the churches they serve!
