Hurricane Harvey has produced catastrophic flooding and devastating damage in Texas. I am so thankful our daughter, Holly, her husband, Scott, and 3-year-old Daniel have escaped both. They live in Spring, Texas, which is a northern suburb on Houston. Many other residents were not as fortunate.
On behalf of our Circle Drive church family, I extend our love, sympathy and prayer support to Wilma Stout and her family in the passing of Lynn Stout. The writer of the book of Ecclesiastes reminds us that there is "a time to be born and a time to die." For Lynn Stout, the time to be born was August 22, 1934 in Yukon, Oklahoma, and the time to die was August 4, 2017 in Colorado Springs.
Our Heavenly Father is prompting our hearts to enter into a season of prayer and fasting for the month of August. In Matthew 17:20-21, GOD's Word says, "And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. “But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
I join with our church family today in celebrating the life of David Raque, who was called home to heaven on Tuesday, July 11. David was 50 years old. He was born March 18, 1967, the son of Ann and Herman Raque.

Today is the 73rd anniversary of the D-Day Invasion. On June 6, 1944, American, British and Canadian military forces launched Operation Overlord, the codename for the largest amphibious invasion in world history. Allied forces landed on 5 different beachheads along Normandy, France. This campaign would be the beginning of the end of WWII.
Circle Drive church family, be sure to join us tomorrow after morning worship for our picnic at the park, right across the street from the church building. The church will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks. If your last name begins with A-M, please bring a side dish (chips, fruit, casseroles, etc.). If your last name begins with N-Z, please bring a dessert. Also, be sure to bring your own lawn chairs or blankets. I look forward to seeing you all there!
I praise GOD for our Young at Heart Bible Study class at Circle Drive. They don't just come to class on Sunday mornings to enjoy breakfast and an engaging Bible Study, because they are also externally focused. This class gets it: reach in and reach out.
Through the years, our Circle Drive church family has been (and continues to be) incredibly blessed by military families who have transferred to Colorado Springs via Fort Carson, Schriever Air Force Base, Peterson Air Force Base, Air Force Academy, and NORAD. So many have come and gone. These families "jump right in," knowing the time limitation of their assignment here, and make a difference for a "season," and then move on to their next assignment. When they leave, our hearts are truly saddened!!
