Socks, Socks, and More Socks!
Kennon Callahan wrote a book titled "Twelve Keys To An Effective Church." It is sub-titled "Strong, Healthy Congregations Living in the Grace of GOD." He originally published it in 1983, and now has released an updated second edition. GOD has used this book to bless and inspire church congregations across America and around the world.
His 12th key to an effective church is Generous Giving. He writes, "The church members do not protect and preserve, conserve and hold their meager financial resources. They know GOD has not done that with them. They know of GOD's generous grace with them. They are generous givers because GOD is the generous giver with them."
So, let me give a "shout-out" for our church family at Circle Drive. Operation Christmas Child. The Thanksgiving Feast. White Christmas. Will Rogers Elementary School Toy Drive. Lottie Moon Offering for International Missions.
And...the "Sock Drive" for the Springs Rescue Mission. Ed McGee, Pastor of Adult Impact Ministries, just informed me that the AIM ministry of Circle Drive, those 55 and up, have brought 306 pairs of adult socks. He also shared with me that the Young at Heart Bible Study Class, led by Larry and Kathy Akers, have brought 188 pairs of children's socks. The total pairs of socks donated were 494! WOW! Absolutely amazing!!
There are many reasons I love our church family at Circle Drive! One of those reasons is the amazing generosity of the people of GOD here at this place. The followers of JESUS at Circle always respond, sharing generously, giving sacrificially, demonstrating the very heart of GOD, who is the greatest giver of all. "For GOD so loved the world that He gave..."
To GOD be the glory!
