A Tribute to Joan McCarty
I was out of town last week, so I just now posting this tribute to a wonderful follower of JESUS who has gone to heaven. The Bible reminds us in Romans 13:7 to "give honor to whom honor is due."
Joan McCarty was born September 22, 1930, and went to heaven on Monday, January 4, 2016. Through her lifetime, Joan loved GOD, served JESUS, and faithfully attended a local church. She especially enjoyed honoring GOD through her musical ability. Joan first sang in church at the age of 5, when she and her sister sang "In the Garden" at the Ivywild Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs (an interesting side note - Barbara Roberts' grandfather helped found the church).
Joan joined membership at Circle Drive on April 7, 2002, moving her membership from First Southern Baptist Church in Canyon City. Though these years, Joan faithfully attended Bible Study and Worship, and especially enjoyed participating in the AIM Senior Adult Ministry at Circle, with her greatest enjoyment coming through singing in the Saints Alive Choir.
Joan possessed a wonderful heart, caring spirit, and indomitable faith. When she was diagnosed with cancer, as she considered her age, opted not to undergo any treatments. Throughout her illness, Joan demonstrated great grace in her suffering. She went home to heaven as she slept on January 4.
Joan's celebration of life service was held at Circle Drive last Friday. Continue to remember her family in prayer.
