A Tribute to Don Husted
On behalf of our church family, I extend my love, sympathy, and prayer support to the family of Don Husted, who went "home to be with the LORD" on Monday, June 22. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae, who went to heaven May 26, 2003. Don and his wife were married on July 22, 1944.
Don Husted's celebration of life service will be held this Friday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Gardens (the corner of Airport Road and Academy Boulevard. Visiting will be held Thursday, June 25 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Don joined membership at Circle Drive on March 11, 2007. He came eager to serve. Through the years, Don was a preacher, a poet, a teacher, and much more. But, most important, Don was a man of GOD. I talked to one person whose life has been influenced by Don's. She said, "Don is the most kind-hearted, compassionate, and caring person I have ever met."
Don definitely enjoyed life. Whenever I would visit him at the Winslow Court or at the Medallion, I could almost never find him in his room. He would be in the rec room playing a game, visiting residents in the building, or playing the drums, accompanying the piano or sax, in the community room. Don was a man in his 90's who possessed a man in his 60's attitude. He was such a remarkable person to know.
I praise our great GOD for the testimony of Don's life. Be sure to continue to pray for his family!
